New Beechwood owners complete 25 homes

The new owners of Beechwood homes have completed almost 10 per cent of the 271 unfinished homes they agreed to complete following the collapse of the home builder. NSW Fair Trading Minister Virginia Judge on Thursday said the new owners Vic Cavasinni and Cavasinni Constructions had finished and handed over 25 homes to Beechwood clients. read more

Collapsed NSW home builder Beechwood Homes has been sold as a going concern to a family-owned business, Cavasinni Constructions.

Beechwood’s receivers Deloitte said the business had been sold for an undisclosed amount with all assets, including existing land, buildings, contracts and copyright.

Beechwood Homes site reopens for business

CONSTRUCTION on more than 300 Sydney homes could resume this week, almost three months after the largest project home building collapse in the state’s history.

Beechwood Homes’s site at HomeWorld in Kellyville was reopened for business yesterday, raising speculation that a buyer had finally secured the finance to take over more than 900 outstanding building contracts. read more

Beechwood creditors offered $4m deal

FORMER management staff of Beechwood Homes have offered a $4 million sweetener to unsecured creditors of the ailing building firm as part of a buyout proposal that has the approval of the Beechwood’s creditors’ committee.

Minutes of the most recent meeting of Beechwood’s committee of creditors show the committee resolved to support “the offer put forward by the management group proposal as providing the best result for industry, homeowner, employees and creditors”.

Renewed: a licence to shatter lives

THE millionaire horse breeder Larry King had his builder’s licence renewed just seven weeks before Beechwood Homes collapsed, leaving thousands of consumers, employees and tradespeople stranded.

Yet warning signs of the project home builder’s imminent crash had been evident to the NSW Government for almost three years following the highly publicised $72 million loss by Mr King’s thoroughbred syndicate, the State Opposition said yesterday. More than 100 complaints relating to Beechwood were lodged with the Office of Fair Trading over the same period.
