Housing Industry Association chief economist Harley Dale said the spending on renovations looked set to continue through next year.
Mr Dale said 2010 was looking even brighter for the renovations market, with people showing renewed interest in improving their homes.
“The year ahead is going to be a very challenging one for the Queensland housing industry, but there is every likelihood that we will see the renovations sector grow and outperform the new home building market along the way,” he said.
